On June 6, 2013 the owner noticed that the dog was symptomatic. A short time later the owner bathed the dog with dog shampoo. A short time after that, the owner observed that the dog was lethargic. Later that morning the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that a dermal reaction could be seen and that the dog's signs were consistent with hyperesthesia. The APSS assistant recommended that the owner bathe the dog with liquid dish washing detergent (LDWD), apply vitamin E, and call back with questions.
