On November 18, 2012 the owner noticed that the cat was drooling/foaming at the mouth, and a few minutes later she wiped the cat's mouth to decontaminate it. A short time later that day, the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that a taste reaction in response to the odor or taste of the product could be seen especially if the product was applied heavily. The APSS veterinarian recommended that the owner give the cat a taste treat, monitor the cat at home, wipe off the cat's coat and skin if drooling recurred, and call back with questions.
