(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
On January 11, 2013 the owner noticed that the cat was lethargic. Later that evening, the owner gave the cat a taste treat of canned dog food. The next day, January 12, 2013, the owner noticed that the cat was drooling. Later that day, the owner rinsed the cat's coat and skin with water, and several hours later she bathed the cat with a pet shampoo. That evening the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that the risk was for gastrointestinal (GI) upset with an oral exposure. The APSS veterinarian recommended that the owner bathe the cat with a liquid dish washing detergent (LDWD), give the cat a taste treat of canned cat food or tuna, monitor the cat at home for GI and dermatological signs, and call back with questions.
Minor
Signs were expected to be mild and self-limiting.
