On July 14, 2013 the owner noticed that the cat was symptomatic. Later that day the owner took the cat to the veterinarian, where laboratory tests revealed that the cat had renal failure and was anemic; the cat was given antibiotics, but she did not respond to them. On July 15, 2013 the cat died. On August 31, 2013 the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. A necropsy was not available.
