On July 21, 2013 the owner noticed that the cat had an isolated episode of coughing and then died suddenly. On July 23, 2013 the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that acute death would not be expected from the exposure to the product and that the cat could have died due to cardiac myopathies or other cardiac problems. A necropsy was not available because the owner had already buried the cat.
