On 05-Jul-2013, an 11 year old, 16 pound, spayed, female, Schnauzer (Miniature) canine, in good condition, with no known concurrent medical conditions, was administered 1 tube of K9 Advantix II Medium Dog (Imidacloprid-Permethrin-Pyriproxyfen) once topically by the owner.

Approximately 2 hours post application the dog exhibited labored breathing. The dog was seen by a veterinarian. Blood work and radiographs were performed. Radiographs revealed fluid behind lungs. Treatments are unknown. On 06-Jul-2013 the dog went into respiratory arrest and was treated with cardiopulmonary resuscitation but later passed away. No necropsy was performed.

Respiratory distress and death not expected in dog after product application, as inconsistent with pharmacotoxicological product profile. Radiographic founding of water behind lungs indicates more chronic or subacute cardiac problem. Thus relation to Advantix rather unlikely, however, based on short time to onset and lack of further diagnostics, case remains unassessable.
