On approximately 05-Mar-2013, a 9 year old, 85 pound, spayed, female, Retriever Labrador (No Description) canine, in good condition, with no known concomitant medical conditions, was administered 1 tube of K9 Advantix II Extra Large Dog (Imidacloprid-Permethrin-Pyriproxyfen) once topically by the owner.

That day the dog was pruritic after the application. Over the next month the dog was seen to be more lethargic. On 01Jul2013 the dog was under the house where she normally lays but was recluctent to come out (behavioral). On 02Jul2013 the dog was found dead. No necropsy was performed. No further information is expected. This case is closed.

Pruritus is not expected to be generalized but rather be linked to the application site. However, may be a consequence of the uncomfortable feeling caused by the applied product. Although sign rather unspecific, lethargy may exceptionally occur in particular sensitive dogs, but is not expected to last for a month. Death is not expected after product application. Time to onset very long (4 months), therefore allergic/anaphylactic reaction unlikely. Death likely related to a concomitant medical status. Necropsy not available. Considering all aspects, product relation is deemed to be unlikely.
