(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
On an unknown date, 7 felines with unknown signalments, in unknown condition, with no known concomitant medical conditions, were administered an unknown amount of Advantage 100 Topical Solution (Imidacloprid) by the owner. On an unknown date the felines died of an unknown cause. The owner initially contacted Bayer to inquire about product expiration date, and not to report this event. No further information is expected.
Death
Report lacks important information (e.g. patient details, age, application date, time to onset etc.). Death not expected after product application, as inconsistent with pharmacotoxicological product profile. No further signs reported. Product has wide margin of safety. Oral LD50 in rat 642 mg / kg BW. 24-fold overdosage tolerated by cats without showing any side effect. The intent of the phone call to Bayer was not to report the death of the patient but had other reasons. Thus, no direct product relation suspected by reporter otherwise incident would have been reported immediately after death. No signs of anaphylaxis/allergic reaction reported either which would as well been reported in close temporal association. Though product involvement rather unlikely, due to limited information a reliable causality assessment is not possible.
