(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
1-33894981 - The reporter, a pet owner, indicated that his dog was exposed to a spot-on insecticide containing the active ingredients methoprene and permethrin. The reporter states that he applied the product to his 6 year old, 30 pound Bichon Frise one day prior to initial contact with the registrant and one hour after application the dog started scratching and twenty four hours later the dog started walking sideways. At the time of initial contact the pet owner indicated that the dog was whining, very irritable, still itchy and still walking sideways. The reporter had bathed his dog with a non-insecticidal shampoo one day after product application. The reporter was advised that some dogs are sensitive to the product and may experience transient parasthesia after application. Topical vitamin E oil was recommended to help relieve possible parasthesia. The reporter was further advised to seek medical attention for any severe or persistent symptoms. On follow-up call, two days later, the pet owner indicated that her dog was still walking sideways. The pet owner was advised to seek veterinary care since symptoms were persistent. No further information is available.
