Kitten #2 was nursing from a Queen who had a partial tube of Advantage ll Large Cat applied to her on 16April11 for a current flea infestation. The Queen is a stray. The Queen also had masititis. Kitten #2 had been placed on amoxicillin, an eye ointment for ocular discharge and formula (unspecified) starting on 12April11. On 17April11 the kitten appeared to be declining in health and was taken to the attending veterinarian on 18April11. Blood work on the kitten revealed an elevation in liver and kidney enzymes and hyperlipodemia. Kitten #2 died at the veterinary clinic. The attending veterinarian is suspecting a metabolic disease.

If at all, only indirect exposure of puppy via treated queen to product possible. Reported signs not consistent with pharmaco-toxicological product profile. Active ingredients have wide margin of safety. Chronology not consistent either. Queen had mastitis and kitten treated with other products for various health problems concurrently. Elevated liver and renal enzymes indicate coindcidental health problems more probable cause.
