On October 27, 2012 the owner noticed that the cat had an isolated episode of vomiting; the cat vomited 1 to 2 times and the vomit contained food. Later that evening the owner bathed the cat with liquid dish washing detergent (LDWD), and a short time afterward the owner noticed that the cat had an isolated episode of ataxia. That evening, the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that the risk was for dermal irritation and hyperesthesia, and that ingestion could cause mild vomiting. The APSS technician recommended that the owner take the cat to the veterinarian, have the veterinarian call for information, monitor the cat at home, keep the cat warm, give food and water, and call back with questions.
