A veterinarian reported in conversation with their Bayer sales representative that they knew of a cat that had been seen at the clinic after oral ingestion of k9 advantix and the cat died. It was not his patient and it is a large clinic and had no other details.

Permethrin is toxic for cats and may have a fatal outcome but generally cats have a good chance to recover if adequate treatment is applied in time. However, in this case only very limited information available and no onset time given. No details about further signs e.g. salivation, neurological signs. The death of cat may have several other possible causes and product relation no assessable.
