On November 4, 2011 the owner noticed the dog was symptomatic On November 4, 2011 the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that dogs tolerate pyrethroids well and that no life-threatening signs were expected. The APSS veterinarian also stated that pyrethroids can cause a "pins and needles" sensation, or hyperesthesia. The APSS assistant recommended that the owner take the dog to the veterinarian, have the veterinarian call for information, have the veterinarian do a diagnostic evaluation of the dog, and call back with questions.
