On August 25, 2012, shortly after accidentally giving the dog the product orally, the owner observed that the dog coughed one time. The dog did not have any symptoms after that. Later that day, the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that the main concern was for gastrointestinal (GI) upset and possibly coughing. The APSS assistant recommended that the owner dilute the product with milk or ice cream, monitor the dog for GI signs, discontinue product usage for the time being and apply the product in 2 to 3 days, and call back with questions.
