(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
On August 20, 2012, just after spraying the cat with the product, the owner noticed that the cat was agitated for about 10 minutes, had an isolated episode of drooling, and was lethargic. On August 22, 2012 the owner noticed that the cat was drooling again, and a few minutes later she contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that increased activity of fleas before death can cause agitation and jumpiness in a cat. The APSS veterinarian also stated that with an oral exposure, a taste reaction and possible mild gastrointestinal (GI) upset could be seen. The APSS veterinarian recommended that the owner bathe the cat with liquid dish washing detergent (LDWD), monitor the cat at home, and take the cat to the veterinarian if the signs were not better by the next day.
Minor
The APSS veterinarian stated that the substance was considered to have a low likelihood of causing the clinical situation. On August 24, 2012 an APSS assistant called the owner to update the case. The owner stated that at an unknown time she gave the cat a bath with LDWD and monitored the cat at home.
