On September 18, 2012, right after the owner had applied the product to the cat and observed the cat lick some of the product, the owner noticed that the cat was drooling. The owner immediately gave the cat water to dilute the product. A short time later, the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that the risk was for a taste reaction and mild gastrointestinal (GI) upset. The APSS veterinarian informed the owner that the product is an insect growth regulator and does not actually kill adult fleas. The APSS veterinarian recommended that the owner give the cat a taste treat, bathe the cat with liquid dish washing detergent (LDWD) if she would not leave the treated area alone, and call back with questions.
