On January 8, 2012 the owner noticed that the cat was symptomatic. On January 9, 2012 the owner noticed that the cat was shaking his paws. Later that evening, the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that the risk was for mild gastrointestinal (GI) upset and mild dermal sensitivity. The APSS veterinarian also stated that severe signs would not be expected. The APSS assistant recommended that the owner monitor the cat for GI signs and to call back if the cat vomited, give the cat a taste treat, bathe the cat with liquid dish washing detergent (LDWD), and call back with questions.
