On December 27, 2011 the owner noticed that the cat was drooling heavily. A short time later, the owner bathed the cat with liquid dish washing detergent (LDWD). Later that evening, the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that taste reactions such as drooling and vomiting could be seen with the application of appropriate topical flea products. The APSS veterinarian recommended that the owner give the cat a taste treat, re-bathe the cat with LDWD to remove any residue from the product, provide thermoregulation to ensure the cat did not get chilled after a bath, and call back with questions.
