(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
On the morning of August 24, 2011 the owner noticed the cat was symptomatic. Shortly after, the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS technician recommended that the owner monitor the cat at home for GI signs including vomiting, retching, drooling, or diarrhea, and to call back if these signs were more than mild; manage any vomiting by giving nothing by mouth for 1 hour and then gradually introducing water and food; provide a taste treat of 1 teaspoon of low fat milk, tuna, or canned food; and call back with questions.
Minor
Later on the morning of August 24, 2011 the owner contacted the APSS to update the case. The owner stated that the signs persisted. The APSS veterinarian recommended that the owner bathe the cat with liquid dish washing detergent (LDWD), give nothing by mouth for 1 to 2 hours, give a small meal after the cat's stomach settled, call back if the signs did not resolve, and consult with a veterinarian for further flea control advice. An attempt to update the case was unsuccessful; therefore, the outcome is unknown.
