On June 19, 2011, shortly after the collar was applied, and after grooming another cat that had the same collar, the cat became symptomatic. On July 8, 2011 the owner's regular veterinarian contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian recommended that the regular veterinarian monitor the cat's stool, provide an anthelmintic and a diagnostic evaluation as needed, remove the collar, and call back with questions.
