On April 28, 2011 shortly after the collar was applied, the owner noticed the cat was symptomatic. The owner then removed the collar from the cat and by the next morning, April 29, the cat had fully recovered. On April 30, 2011 the owner took the cat to the veterinarian to discuss flea preventatives. On May 26, 2011 the owner called the Animal Product Safety Services (APSS) to report the case. The APSS veterinarian stated while she would not expect any signs due to the insecticide in the collar, some cats will show pronounced signs when they have a collar applied that they are not used to.
