On October 1, 2011, shortly after the product was applied, the owner noticed the cat licked some of the product and developed a temporary facial expression abnormality. Later that morning, the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS toxicologist stated that a taste reaction, vomiting, and hypersalivation could be seen, but that serious problems were not expected. The APSS toxicologist recommended that the owner monitor the cat at home, decontaminate the environment, and call back with questions.
