On April 21, 2011 the owner's regular veterinarian noticed that the cat had a fasciculation. The regular veterinarian bathed the cat, provided methocarbamol, and placed an IV catheter in the cat. Shortly after, the regular veterinarian contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that cats are very sensitive to permethrins. The APSS veterinarian recommended continuing treatment, providing methocarbamol, monitoring body temperature, managing seizures, and calling back with questions.

Innapropriate use of the product. A dog product was applied to the cat. The APSS veterinarian stated that the substance was considered to have a high likelihood of causing the clinical situation. A follow up was not performed, because additional information was not expected. Therefore, the outcome of this case is unknown.
