1-27711206- The reporter, a pet owner, indicates her animals had been exposed to a product containing the active ingredient methoprene. The pet owner indicated she had applied the product to her three cats three days prior to her initial contact. She reported the day of her initial contact her twenty two pound six year old domestic short hair cat (Subform III, #1) refused food and water. The remaining two cats (Subform III, #2) similarly refused food and water and demonstrated lethargy. The pet owner was advised use of the product as labeled would not be expected to elicit the signs seen. She was advised to wash the animals with a non-insecticidal shampoo and seek veterinarian assistance. The pet owner spontaneously called back the next day to report the two cats described previously as lethargic (Subform III, #2) had died. They were not brought to the veterinarian. The pet owner stated the remains were buried but she also added she would retrieve them and bring them to the veterinarian for necropsy. The pet owner was advised of registrant supported necropsy to assist in determining the animal¿s cause of death. It is unclear if the owner availed herself of this program. No further information is available.
