1-27254144- The reporter, a pet owner, indicated her animals were exposed to an insecticide containing the active ingredient methoprene. The pet owner stated she applied the product to her three cats two days prior to her initial contact with the registrant. She indicated she applied the product to her two seven month female domestic shorthair cats (Subform III, #1) and noted seizures in both animals within 24 hours. Both animals were seen by the veterinarian and treated with a bath, intravenous fluid, and medications the caller was unable to list. Both animals were euthanized by the veterinarian two days following application. The remaining sixteen year twenty pound male cat remained asymptomatic throughout the experience. The pet owner was advised the signs and outcome are not consistent with the toxicity profile of the active ingredient. No further information is available.
