1-26747541- The reporter, a pet owner indicated her animal was exposed to an insecticide containing the active ingredient methoprene. The pet owner stated she had applied the product to her one year female nine pound domestic shorthair cat two hours prior to her initial contact with the registrant. The pet owner had noted the animal was agitated ¿¿¿racing around¿¿? and scratching at the application area. The pet owner indicated she had applied the product far enough back on the animal¿¿¿s dorsal midline that it was able to lick or ingest the product. The pet owner was advised some cats can resent the application of topical products and will demonstrate behavioral responses similar to this quickly becoming acclimated to the applied product. Due to the fact that the animal was able to lick or groom the product it was advised it be washed off with a noninsecticidal shampoo. No further information is available.
