(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
1-27058306- The reporter, a pet owner, indicated his animal may have been exposed to an herbicide containing the active ingredient diquat dibromide. The pet owner indicated the product was applied to a lake adjoining his residential property. He did not describe when this took place. He was unsure EPA registration number or label information that may allow definitive product identification. The reporter indicated his eight year female eight pound domestic shorthair cat had developed bloody vomiting and diarrhea within twelve hours of the application. The reporter indicated he had brought the animal to the veterinarian in response to the observed signs and it was diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease. He did not provide a time line, clarify the means by which the diagnosis was established, nor did he describe any treatment. The pet owner indicated the animal¿s symptoms persisted until it died. He did not describe when this took place. The pet owner stated his primary concern for exposure was the detectable aroma in the air following application and believed this may have contributed to the onset of the animal¿s signs. The pet owner was advised the avenue of exposure and signs seen were inconsistent with the profile of the active ingredient. No further information is available.
Death
A detectable odour is not a sign of a health risk.
