1-26478074- The reporter, a pet owner, indicated his animals had been exposed to an herbicide containing the active ingredient corn gluten meal. The reporter indicated his two adult male Labrador retriever dogs had discovered the bag of the product in his home. They had partially destroyed the product and ingested an estimated 'several handfuls each' of the product. The exposure had taken place one night prior to his initial contact with the registrant. The reporter indicated the animal 'acted uncomfortable' the night prior and had vomited eight times each. The pet owner asked about potential for harm. The pet owner was advised of the potential gastrointestinal irritant effect of the product when directly ingested. He was advised of supportive care that may be offered the animals at home and the threshold at which he should seek veterinary care. On follow up the pet owner indicated the animals vomited the evening of the ingestion and were listless refusing food the next day. They then resumed normal behavior. No veterinary assistance was necessary.
