Some of the product leaked¿out¿and¿he¿licked¿it up.¿Caller was advised that borax is a common component in insecticides and cleaning compounds. It is generally considered to have a wide margin of safety with low dose oral exposures. Studies with this agent revealed: no deaths, nor serious systemic effects found in dogs given 1540 - 6510 mg/kg borax or 1000 - 3090 mg/kg boric acid orally. Most of the dogs vomited, however. (name , Veterinary Clinics (name) ). The most common clinical effects include vomiting, diarrhea, hypersalivation, and depression This represents a very small exposure. Would expect signs to resolve today if they are related to the exposure. If the diarrhea continues today I would suspect that there is some other reason for the diarrhea.
