1-26336020- The reporter, a pet owner, indicates her animal was exposed to an herbicide containing the active ingredient ammonium soaps of higher fatty acids. The reporter indicates she applied the product to her lawn the day prior to her report. The pet owner states her seven month male fifteen pound Shih Tzu dog was allowed to have contact with the application area shortly before her report. The pet owner had noted the animal salivating excessively just prior to the call. No discreet exposure incident was reported. The pet owner was advised of the potential irritant effect of the product when directly ingested. Signs would not be expected if the animal was allowed access to application areas one day following application. The pet owner was advised to seek veterinary assistance if the signs persisted or worsened. On follow up three days later the pet owner indicated the animal was still salivating excessively. The pet owner was advised to seek veterinary assistance in determining the cause of the animal¿s signs. Irritation associated with observed exposure would not be expected to persist the duration indicated. No further information is known.
