1-26105519- The caller, a pet owner, reports her animal may have been exposed to an herbicide containing the active ingredient Iron (Ferric HEDTA). The pet owner indicates she applied the product to her lawn the day prior to her initial contact with the registrant. She allowed her six year twenty pound male Shih Tzu dog on the application area later that evening. The pet owner indicated her animal vomited the evening it was allowed access and had diarrhea the following morning. The pet owner stated she did not observe a direct exposure. She indicates the animal may have eaten grass to which the product had been applied. The pet owner was advised of the potential irritant effect to the GI tract if the product were directly ingested. Eating foliage to which the product was applied would be expected to be a negligible exposure and not to elicit signs. She was advised to seek veterinary care for the animal if the signs persisted or worsened. On follow up the pet owner stated the signs had persisted three days before spontaneously resolving. She did not state she needed to seek veterinary care. No further information is available.
