1-26095826- The reporter, a pet owner, indicates her animal was exposed to an herbicide containing 100% corn gluten meal. The pet owner indicated she applied the product to her lawn two weeks prior to the initial contact with the registrant. The pet owner indicated two to three days following application her four and one half year eight pound male Yorkshire terrier developed an allergic reaction. The pet owner described itch, dermal redness and bumps around the neck. The pet was brought to a holistic vet clinic and prescribed Benadryl and told the animals¿ immunoglobin was increased. The pet owner indicated she believed ingestion of granules of this product elicited the reaction seen in her animal, but was unable to describe a discreet exposure incident. The pet owner was advised the signs seen were inconsistent with the profile of the active ingredient. Direct ingestion could elicit gastrointestinal irritation but would not be expected to elicit dermatologic signs or hypersensitivity. No further information is available.
