On April 9, 2011 the owner noticed that the three ducks were weak, had diarrhea, and had an abnormal feces color. Shortly after, the three ducks died. The owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) on April 11, 2011. The APSS veterinarian stated that the product was an anticoagulant that causes depletion of vitamin K dependent clotting factors. The APSS veterinarian also stated that coagulopathies can develop within 3-5 days. The APSS technician recommended a necropsy for the ducks.
