1-25731946- The caller, a pet owner, indicates his animals may have been exposed to a pesticide containing the active ingredient metaldehyde. The pet owner indicates he applied the product to his garden the day prior to his initial contact with the registrant. He allowed his two dogs access to the garden later in the day. No exposure was observed. The pet owner indicated his eleven year fifteen pound female toy poodle (Subform III, #1) awakened him that evening due to seizure activity the animal was having. The animal was brought to the veterinarian. The pet owner indicated upon returning from the veterinarian his seven year seventeen pound male toy poodle (Subform III, #2) was found with muscle tremors and breathing hard. The pet owner was advised domestic animals should not be allowed access t the product as is indicated on the label. The pet owner was advised of expected symptoms following ingestion, treatment protocols and prognosis. On follow up the pet owner indicated the female animal had died while at the veterinary hospital. The male animal was treated and released from the veterinarian fully recovered. No further information is available.
