(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
1-24947921- The reporter, a pet owner, indicates his animals were exposed to a pesticide containing the active ingredient methoprene. The reporter stated he applied the product, a topical flea treatment for cats, to his two female domestic long hair cats the day prior to the initial contact with the registrant. The pet owner indicates he noted what he thought was dermal irritation in the animal in the period immediately following application. The reporter indicated the animals ¿¿¿ran around and tried to lick the product off of their backs.? The signs described lasted ¿¿¿a few hours¿¿¿ and then spontaneously resolved. The pet owner was advised of low order of toxicity of the active ingredient contained in the product involved. Dermal irritation would not be expected following application. The pet owner was advised to wash the animals with a non insecticidal shampoo and seek veterinary assistance if the signs recurred, persisted, or worsened. Cats sometimes resent the application of topical products becoming accustomed to the presence of the product on their skin shortly following application. No further information is available.
