(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
1-24576567- The reporter, a pet owner, called to indicate her animal had been exposed to an insecticide containing the active ingredient permethrin. The caller indicated she had applied the product, a topical flea and tick drop labeled for use only on dogs, to her four year twelve pound male cat the night prior to her initial contact with the registrant. The pet owner had indicated she had thought the animal was somewhat lethargic the night prior. The animal was found in her garage the next morning in the midst of a seizure. The animal was at the veterinarian¿¿¿s office at the point of the initial contact with the registrant. The pet owner indicated the veterinarian had stated the animal may have ¿¿¿permanent nerve damage?. The pet owner was advised that concentrated canine pyrethrin/pyrethroid spot-on type products can result in significant problems if inappropriately used on cats. The caller was advised of proper decontamination, care, and prognosis. ¿¿¿Permanent nerve damage? would not be expected if the animal was appropriately cared for. The pet owner was reached three days later for routine follow up. She reported the animal was bathed and brought to the veterinarian. The animal was provided unspecified treatments and is now asymptomatic. No further information is available.
