On September 18, 2010 the cat became symptomatic. The owner then took the cat to the veterinarian, who bathed the cat, then called the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS). The APSS veterinarian that cats are very sensitive to permethrin. The APSS veterinarian recommended giving the cat methocarbamol and phenobarital, monitoring the cat at the veterinary facility, providing thermoregulation and supportive care, and calling back with questions.

On September 22, 2010 the attending veterinary assistant returned the APSS's call. The attending veterinary assistant stated the cat fully recovered with symptomatic treatment. This product was not used according to label directions: Do not use on cats.
