On August 12, 2010 the cat became symptomatic. On August 13, 2010 the owner rinsed the cat off with water and her signs seemed to improve some. Later that day, the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS. The APSS veterinarian stated dermal irritation or contact hypersensitivity may occur as with any topical exposure and some animals exhibit abnormal behavior in response to the dermal sensation that may be associated with this type of agent. The APSS veterinarian also stated that if the product was ingested, mild gastrointestinal and/or a taste reaction may occur. The APSS assistant relayed the APSS veterinarian's recommendations to bathe the cat with a liquid dish washing detergent, monitor the pet at home, and call back with questions.
