On May 29, 2010 shortly after the product was applied, the owner noticed the cat began hypersalivating. The APSS veterinarian stated products labeled for cats generally have low concentrations of pyrethroids. The APSS veterinarian also stated if the product is groomed, a taste reaction can be seen. The APSS veterinarian recommended offering the cat a taste treat, monitoring the cat home for gastrointestinal and dermatological signs, managing vomiting by giving nothing by mouth, bathing the cat, consulting with a veterinarian for other flea control options, and calling back with questions.

On June 8, 2010 an APSS assistant called the owner to follow up the case. The owner stated he had offered the cat a taste treat, which stopped the drooling, but then the cat would lick itself again and begin hypersalivating again. The owner had not bathed the cat and the cat is still experiencing pruritus, due to continued flea infestation. The owner stated he was going to re-dose the cat soon. The APSS assistant offered additional consult for the continued pruritus, but the owner declined.
