(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
On April 6, 2010 the APSS veterinarian stated dogs tolerate pyrethroids well and no life threatening signs are expected. The APSS veterinarians also stated that pyrethroids can cause a pins and needles sensation or hyperesthesia. The APSS veterinarian recommended bathing the dog with liquid dishwashing detergent (LDWD), rubbing Vitamin E into the application area, applying a cold compress, taking the dog to the veterinarian if signs worsen or persist, and calling back with questions.
Moderate
On April 12, 2010 the owner called the APSS to follow up the case. The owner stated that he bathed the dog with LDWD and took the dog to the veterinarian on April 6, 2010, where the dog was given Benadryl and Dexamethasone. Later that evening, the dog starting having diarrhea, but the dog's other signs ended on April 7, 2010. The dog has continued over the last week to have diarrhea. The APSS veterinarian recommended taking the dog back into the veterinarian as diarrhea for a week duration is not normal, and may require additional treatment.
