On November 12, 2009 the owner realized she had accidently applied the dog product to the cat and bathed the cat with pet shampoo. She then contacted the company, who recommended she bathe the cat with liquid dish washing detergent. After the bath, the cat was acting much better, laying down, grooming himself, and the owners were unable to see any twitching. The APSS veterinarian stated cats are extremely sensitive to permethrin, and severe signs may occur following application of dog products on cats. The APSS assistant relayed the APSS veterinarian's recommendations to take the cat to the veterinarian, have the veterinarian call for information, and call back with questions. On November 13, 2009 the had another fasciculation, so the owner called to update and obtain additional help for the case. She reported that she had taken the cat to the veterinarian who had given the cat methocarbamol and sent methocarbamol home. The APSS technician relayed the APSS veterinarian's recommendations to monitor the cat at home and provided directions for when the owner should give methocarbamol and call back with questions or if signs continue.
