The reporter indicates he applied the product, a topical flea and tick drop labeled only for dogs, to his four year six pound female domestic short hair cat the night prior to the initial contact with the registrant. The pet owner had noted muscle tremors in the animal the morning following application and the point of initial contact with the registrant. The pet owner indicated he had contacted his veterinarian and was advised to bathe the animal, which he reported he had done. The pet owner was advised that concentrated canine pyrethrin/pyrethroid spot-on type products can result in significant problems if inappropriately used on cats. The caller was advised of proper decontamination, care, and prognosis. The pet owner was advised to seek prompt veterinary care for his animal. The pet owner was reached the next day. He indicated had brought his animal to the veterinarian, it had received unspecified treatments, and its symptoms had resolved within one hour, it had remained asymptomatic.
