7/9/2010 Caller's daughter applied the product to her face, neck and limbs one week ago before entering the woods. Daughter developed redness and irritation on her neck 24 hours later. Other areas treated with repellent are fine. Daughter's symptoms have been improving. 7/12/2010 Callback to the original caller for follow up information. Caller would only say that she did not think daughter's symptoms were due to product use, and may have been caused by pool chemicals. Daughter is now asymptomatic.
Minor
The information contained in this report is based on self-reported statements provided to the registrant during telephone Interview(s). These self-reported descriptions of an incident have not been independently verified to be factually correct or complete descriptions of the incident. For that reason, information contained in this report does not and can not form the basis for a determination of whether the reported clinical effects are causally related to exposure to the product identified in the telephone interviews. Minor transitory dermatological symptoms may have multiple potential etiologies which, in addition to this product, include such factors as plant allergens, poison ivy, poison oak, food, infectious pathogens, heat exposure, insect bites, etc. Furthermore, this patient did not show skin rash in other areas of the body treated with repellent. Finally, on follow-up, the mother indicated they suspected that chemicals in a pool were responsible for the daughter's symptoms.
