The dog weighs between 27 and 33 pounds. On June 26, 2010 the dog became symptomatic. The owner took the dog to the veterinarian on June 28, 2010, where an unknown antibiotic was given. On June 29, 2010 the dog died. On July 19, 2010 the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS). The APSS veterinarian stated death would not be expected. The APSS veterinarian recommended contacting the manufacturer and calling back with questions.

The APSS veterinarian stated that the substance was not related to the clinical situation. A follow up was not performed, because additional information was not expected.
