On September 22, 2010 the owner was drying off the cat and noticed that he was symptomatic. The cat then jumped from the owner's arms and hid under the couch. After the owner called the cat back out, he immediately began to seizure and then died. On September 23, 2010 the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS). The APSS veterinarian stated no problems expected with appropriate use and she would be concerned that the stress of the bath caused a worsening of an underlying cardiac issue, given the reported clinical signs. The APSS veterinarian recommended a necropsy. The owner stated she was not interested in a necropsy. The cat's body had been taken to a friend's farm and was probably buried already.
