(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
On May 1, 2010 the APSS veterinarian stated vomiting is possible if oral exposure has occurred, but it would have been expected within a few hours of exposure, not almost 24 hours later. The APSS technician relayed the APSS veterinarian's recommendations to bathe the dog with a mild liquid dish washing detergent (LDWD), apply Vitamin E to the application area, monitor for dermatological and gastrointestinal signs, call back with questions, and take the dog to the veterinarian if signs don't improve or get worse.
Death
On May 5, 2010 the owner contacted the APSS to follow up the case. The owner stated that she had bathed the dog with LDWD, applied Vitamin E, monitored dermatological and gastrointestinal signs, but did not take the dog to the veterinarian. The owner also stated that the dog died on May 3, 2010. The veterinarian at APSS told the owner that he believed something else was going on. The APSS veterinarian recommended a necropsy, but the owner declined, as the body was not available.
