Subform VII: Scientific Study

1. Study Reference

Title Study Manager

Date 14-MAY-10

2. a) Is an extension needed to translate the document?

No

3. Type of incident identified in the study

New health or environmental hazard

4. Describe the incident identified in the study (e.g. study demonstrates an increased risk to non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma after exposure to pesticide X)

Two residue field trials were done in Spain in 2009 involving azoxystrobin being applied twice with a 12 day interval between applications to 'savoy' cabbage at a rate of 250gai/ha. The second application was made 14 days prior to normal harvest. Samples were taken at 0, 3, 7, 14 and 21 days after last application (DALA). Residues of azoxystrobin collected from the two trial at 14 DALA were 0.53 and 2.1mg/kg, respectively, which is above the current EU MRL of 0.3ppm. Information from earlier studies has indicated that residues in Savoy cabbage may be higher than other cabbage varieties due to the more 'open' growth of Savoy cabbages.

5. a) Was the study discontinued before completion?

No

5. b) Provide the reason for discontinuation

6. If the study is ongoing, what is the expected completion date?

Unknown

For Registrant use only

7. Provide supplemental information here

Currently, there is no MRL established for azoxystrobin on cabbages in Canada. This report is being made since, in the opinion of Syngenta Canada, it meets the published criteria for reporting as a scientific study.
