1-22242837: A reporter called on 04/13/2010 to report the exposure of her cat to a flea egg and larvae product containing the active ingredient Methoprene. According to the reporter, the product was applied to the cat on 04/12/2010. Within 15 minutes of product application, the cat became agitated. The cat developed lethargy later in the day and was just lying around. The cat does not allow people to handle her, so the reporter was unable to give her a bath. The reporter was advised that the product has little to no toxicity for mammals, and adverse reactions are not expected. A recommendation was made to bathe the cat in non-insecticidal shampoo or hand dish soap. A recommendation was also made to consult a veterinarian should the signs persist. The company's reimbursement policy was discussed. On follow up on 04/15/2010, the reporter stated that the cat was wiped down with wet rags. She did not want to eat the night of product application, but her signs resolved by the next morning. No further information was obtained.
