On March 11, 2010 the product was applied. On March 13, 2010 the APSS veterinarian stated dermal irritation or a hypersensitivity reaction may occur as with any topical exposure, and in addition some animals exhibit abnormal behavior in response to the dermal sensation of this type of agent. The APSS veterinarian recommended the owner take the cat to the veterinarian, have the veterinarian call for information, and call back with questions.

The APSS veterinarian stated that the substance was considered to have a doubtful likelihood of causing the clinical situation. On March 16, 2010 an APSS technician contacted the owner to follow up the case. The owner stated that the cat died after the APSS consultation on March 13, 2010, as they were unable to get the cat from under the porch. This product was not used according to label directions: consult a veterinarian before using on a geriatric pet.
