1-22237046: A reporter (dog owner) called on 04/12/2010 to report the possible exposure of her dog to a fertilizer containing the active ingredient corn gluten meal. According to the reporter, the product was applied to the neighbor's lawn on 04/11/2010, and some of it may have drifted onto the reporter's property. The reporter was concerned that the dog may have ingested some of the product. At the time of the report, the dog was experiencing lethargy and diarrhea. The reporter was advised that the product has a low level of toxicity and a wide margin of safety. Small ingestions may result in minor gastrointestinal signs such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. A recommendation was made to keep the dog hydrated and have it evaluated by a veterinarian should the signs persist. Multiple follow up attempts were unsuccessful. No further information was obtained.
